Commissioned by HarperCollins India, Golden Sportspersons is an illustrated nonfiction book that brings to life the journeys of 33 iconic Indian athletes across diverse disciplines—from cricket and wrestling to boxing and badminton. The brief was to create illustrations that were visually compelling, informative, and emotionally resonant for a young audience.

Each full-page, portrait-style illustration was carefully crafted to blend realism with accessibility, capturing the personality, grit, and distinctive energy of each sportsperson. Drawing inspiration from vintage sports posters and collectible cards, the illustrations use bold compositions and a limited yet dynamic colour palette to strike a balance between classic and contemporary. This visual language not only reflects the athletes' legacy but also invites younger readers to engage with the stories on a personal level.

The book has been well-received in schools and libraries across India and continues to be celebrated for its unique blend of storytelling and illustration. The portraits add depth and vibrancy to each story, making the book both a tribute and a source of inspiration for the next generation.
